Characters
Here are the characters in the first book. For the sake of preventing spoilers these descriptions won't really have much detail and won't include characters that are more important later on. They are in no particular order.
- Pippa "Pip" Fitz-Amobi: Pip is a bright and curious high school senior known for her intelligence, determination, and strong moral compass.
She decides to investigate a closed murder case for her school project, driven by a gut feeling that the town's accepted story doesn't add up.
(there is more info about the reason to investigate the murders in the prequel).
Her tenacity often puts her at odds with people who would prefer the past stay buried.
- Andie Bell: Andie was a popular and enigmatic student at Pip's school before her sudden disappearance rocked the town.
The town believes her boyfriend, Sal Singh, killed her.
She came from a privileged family and was known for her beauty and charm, though as Pip discovers, she had a lot of secrets and enemies.
- Sal Singh: Sal was a kind and well-liked student who had a bright future ahead of him.
He was Andie's boyfriend, and really cared about her. At the time of Andie's disappearence, he was first a person of interest, but then his dead body was found, and his phone had a text message confessing to the murders.
After this, he became a figure surrounded by controversy.
His memory is often discussed with mixed emotions in Little Kilton.
- Ravi Singh: Ravi is Sal's younger brother, thoughtful and a bit guarded due to the way his family was treated after the tragedy.
After Pip asks for his help in clearing his brother's name, he becomes a crucial ally to Pip in her investigation.
Despite everything, he retains a sharp sense of humor and a deep loyalty to his brother.
- Cara Ward: Cara is Pip's closest best friend. She is temperamental and chaotic, and wants Pip to ease up a little, usually dragging her into her shenanigans.
She's loyal and is always there for Pip.
- Naomi Ward: Naomi is Cara's older sister and a former friend of Sal and Andie.
She was part of their friend group at the time of the events, and she was one of the people to last see Sal.
In order to figure out more about what happened, Pip interviews her multiple times.
- Elliot Ward: Elliot is Cara and Naomi's father.
He teaches at Pip's school and supports her academic work. He is like a second father figure to Pip.
- Max Hastings: Max is a former schoolmate of Sal, Naomi, and Andie.
He comes from a privileged background and was part of their friend group. He is very hedonistic and reckless.
Him, along with Naomi and the rest of the friend group, were the last to see Sal alive.
- Becca Bell: Becca is Andie's younger sister.
She is still processing with the aftermath of her sister's disappearance.
- Jason Bell: Jason is Andie and Becca's father.
He is known to be extremely strict and controlling over his daughters.
He did not approve of Andie's relationship to Sal, and always made her and her sister compete with each other.
- Nat da Silva: Nat is a former classmate of Andie and Sal. Andie saw her as a potential rival, so she bullied her extensively.
She has a more isolated reputation compared to others.
